I morgon fyller jag år. Övertalade min sambo att ge mig en present i förväg, och det blev den här. Älskar namnet, "Today I Accomplished Zero".

Jag försöker ju lära mig spela banjo, så istället för att städa och baka satt jag på YouTube och tittade på banjovideor.







Visste inte att det fanns elektrisk banjo! Men de låter ju nästan precis likadant som en vanlig.

Jag vet inte om det är så bra att titta på videor med folk som kan spela riktigt bra, man blir ju mest ledsen över hur dålig man är själv.

Tomorrow is my birthday. I talked my bf into giving me a present today, and I got this nail polish. I love the name, "Today I Accomplished Zero".

I was supposed to clean and do some baking today, but instead I spent a lot of time on YouTube watching banjo videos. I'm learning how to play. I didn't know there were electric banjos! I don't know if it's good to watch videos of people who're really good at playing, it mostly makes me sad, since I'm so bad.

I think Deathstars sound quite a bit like Sisters of Mercy, that I listened to yesterday. I listened to Deathstars a lot about 10 years ago. They're good!

Sweden Rock Festival 2014

Man såg inte mycket på väg till parkeringen.

Sweden Rock är över för i år. Jag saknar det redan.

Såg mest fram emot:
Black Sabbath och Billy Idol. Har inte så många band kvar som jag måste se, men Black Sabbath var ett av dem. De var bra båda två.

Bästa konsert:
Royal Republic och Monster Magnet. Två band som jag egentligen inte var särskilt sugen på, men som båda gjorde riktigt bra spelningar. Alice Cooper var också riktigt bra. Tyvärr missade jag halva spelningen eftersom jag var tvungen att skjutsa hem min bror.

Sweden Rock Festival is over. I already miss it.

I was mostly looking forward to:
Black Sabbath and Billy Idol. There aren't that many bands left that I feel I need to see, but Black Sabbath was one of them. They were both good.

Best show:
Royal Republic and Monster Magnet. Two bands that I wasn't that interested in seeing, but they were both really great. Alice Cooper also did a really great show. Unfortunately I missed half of it since I had to give my brother a ride home.

Jag tittade på Eurovison-finalen i går. Tyckte faktiskt att det ändå fanns några bra låtar, ibland finns det knappt någon. Jag röstade på Island, men det var ändå fint att Conchita vann. Världen känns som en lite bättre plats nu. Tyckte att de här tre var bäst:

I watched the Eurovision final yesterday. I thought that there actually were some good songs this year, sometimes there's barely one. I voted for Iceland, but I still liked that Conchita won. The world feel's like a slightly better place now. My top three were Iceland, Armenia and Switzerland, but I also want to mention France, since two of the members looked so much like Andy Samberg and Nick from New Girl (the long haired one).

And if the night is burning, I will cover my eyes

I dag grillade vi för första gången i år. Älskar grillad mat. Älskar inte att håret och alla kläder sen luktar rök.

Efteråt kollade vi på The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Den var inte särskilt bra. Läste boken igen förra året, och de verkar ha ändrat på mycket. Jag förstår aldrig varför de ändrar en massa - boken blev ju antagligen känd för att den var bra som den var. Jag gillar dock låten:

Today we grilled for the first time this year. I love bbq. I don't love how it makes my hair and all my clothes smell like smoke.

Afterwards we watched The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It wasn't very good. I reread the book last year, and they seem to have changed a lot. I never undertand why they change so much - the book probably became famous because it was good the way it was. However, I do like the song I See Fire.

Något som är ironiskt är att Meat Loaf brukade vara vegetarian. Jag hittade ett citat där han pratar om det:

Meat Loaf har ganska ojämn kvalitet på sina låtar, vissa är jättebra och andra mest sådär. Men de här låtarna var bra! När jag hör Out of the frying pan into the fire tänker jag alltid på Tolkien och Bilbo, för det var där jag hörde uttrycket första gången. Jag tyckte att det lät så mycket sämre än det svenska ur askan i elden.

Meat Loaf has got a pretty uneven quality to his songs, some are great and others not very good. But I liked these songs! When I hear Out of the frying pan into the fire I always think of Tolkien and Bilbo, because that's where I heard it for the first time. I thought it sounded so much worse than the Swedish expression "out of the ashes into the fire".

High Decibels - High Hopes

I dag bestämde jag mig för att ett nyårslöfte blir att lyssna på en ny låt varje dag, hela året. Jag är ganska dålig på att hitta ny musik, och lyssnar mest på det gamla vanliga. Så, här kommer två nya låtar som jag lyssnat på i dag, eftersom jag började så sent och måste komma ikapp.





High Decibels var inte min grej, lät som AC/DC (som jag i och för sig gillar ibland). Men jag gillar ju Bruce, och den här låten från hans nya skiva tyckte jag om. Låttitlarna var förresten ganska passande.

Today I decided that one new years resolution will be to listen to one new song every day, for the rest of the year. I'm pretty bad at finding new music, and usually just listen to the same old stuff. Here are the two songs I listened to today, because I started late and have to catch up.

I didn't care for High Decibels, it sounded like an AC/DC song (who I sometimes like). But I do like Bruce, and I liked this song from his new album. The titles of the songs turned out to be pretty great for this endeavor!

El Duderino

I den här videon hittar man två saker som jag verkligen gillar, Creedence Clearwater Revival och The Big Lebowski. Låten i filmklippet är en av mina absoluta favoriter, blir glad varje gång jag hör den.

Idag lyssnade jag på ett par svenska band som jag inte hört talas om tidigare. De var så bra att jag bara satt och flinade. Känslan när man hittar ett nytt potentiellt favoritband är en av de bästa. Horisont kommer dessutom till SRF, så nu har jag ännu en anledning att köpa biljett dit.

Today I listened to two Swedish bands that I'd never heard before. They were so good that I couldn't stop grinning. I love the feeling when you find a band that you know can become a new favorite. Horisont will be at Sweden Rock Festival, which gives me another reason to buy a ticket.

Skulle gärna vilja ha det här skrivbordet, som finns här.

Jag behöver ett skrivbord att jobba vid. De senaste fem åren har jag studerat i soffan, men jag är trött på att ha ont i nacken. Synd att de flesta snygga skrivborden inte precis hamnar i min prisklass.

När jag googlade "skrivbord" hittade jag ett par ganska intressanta artiklar. En som menar att de som har prydliga skrivbord också äter nyttigare mat än de som har stökigt omkring sig, men att de stökiga människorna är mer kreativa (finns här). Den andra handlar om att unga människor (dit jag nog inte räknas längre) mycket heller mejlar än ringer, och att en av tjugo är livrädd för att använda telefonen (artikel här). Jag är inte rädd längre, men jag tycker verkligen inte om att ringa till folk jag inte känner.

I'm sick of using my computer on the coffee table, I really need a desk to sit by. When googling "desk" in Swedish I found a couple of interesting articles. In a study they found that people who use clean desks eat healthier, but people who were placed at messy desks were more creative. I also read, in another study, that young people much rather use e-mails than phone calls. One in twenty are terrified of work-related phone calls. I'm not fond of them myself, and I used to hate making phone calls.
